Ruthnie Angrand is a Haitian-American poet and writer, cultivator, and strategist. She has energized public and private organizations by helping to shape policy, develop corporate strategy, and, most importantly, enable leaders and organizations to listen. For Ruthnie, the words of public audiences and communities shape movements and moments. From her roots as a classically trained performer to her role as co-founder of a community-based poetry collective, she uses her platforms to advocate, mentor, and lead.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? ... It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met.”
For Ruthnie, a swelling protest, a viral congressional testimony, and a blockbuster film all share these same qualities: they make us pause, feel, and think. Impact is integrative. It relies on our need for each other.
Ruthnie’s work now champions literary art and storytelling as essential to strategic engagement—both employ intellect and heart. It has been to her benefit that one fuels and deepens the other.
For two decades, she has coached clients and mentored young writers to hone the delivery of their stories. Her work and philanthropy extend to advancing and supporting young adults, arts & culture, accessibility, and improving communities.
If you’re doing good work and seeking inspiring community, engage.

“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” – Elie Wiesel.
